Sec. LaHood Shows Leadership by Sticking Up for HOS Improvements

Recently, a freshman Senator from New Hampshire publically called for the Department of Transportation to abandon their efforts to change the trucking industries Hours-of-Service rules. Secretary Ray LaHood immediately defended his Department and reinforced the safety implications of fatigued driving. RSA salutes Secretary LaHood for his stand.
The drivers of large commercial vehicles, we believe, have at least as much responsibility for the safety of the public as do airline pilots. After all, we buy tickets to voluntarily get on commercial aircraft. However, all of us share the public roadways on a daily basis.
