RSA Supports Nomination of Robin Hutcheson to Lead FMCSA

Road Safe America applauds the nomination of Robin Hutcheson to serve as the next Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

We believe Deputy Administrator Hutcheson’s long career working in transportation policy at the local, state, and federal make her an excellent choice to lead the federal agency charged with making trucking safer in the United States. Her experience as the Transportation Director for Salt Lake City, Director of Public Works for the City of Minneapolis, and, more recently, as one of the key policymakers involved in National Roadway Safety Strategy should motivate the Senate to move quickly to confirm her as the next Administrator of the FMCSA.

Important safety policies, like a rulemaking to require large trucks to use existing speed limiter technology, have languished in the absence of clear leadership during this time. Following our discussion with the Acting Administrator, we are confident that she will change this unfortunate reality and finally require positive action on several overdue safety changes that our country sorely wants and needs.
